How to Find the Right Chiropractor for YOU

How to Find the Right Chiropractor for YOU

Chances are there are a lot of chiropractors and chiropractic offices in your town. In fact, you probably drive past a handful of them on your daily commute to work! They all have different signs, prices, and services.

If you walked in to every chiropractic office, you would also find that they are all unique. One office might have lots of people in the waiting room with doctors cracking backs every few minutes. Another one might be very quiet with one doctor taking 20 minutes with each patient. Some offices might take x-rays, and some might not. Some might have patients do exercises and physical therapy, and some might not.

When you do a Google search for "chiropractor in Westminster, CO" or "chiropractor near me", you probably get a bunch of search results too. It can certainly be overwhelming! Here are a few tips we recommend to help you narrow down your options and pick the best chiropractor for your specific situation.

So, with so many options, how do you find the perfect chiropractor for YOU ?

1. Search for a chiropractor who specializes in what you need

It's always a good idea to hire a specialist. If you needed brain surgery, you would definitely want to hire a specialized brain surgeon to do the best possible job. I would not recommend hiring a general surgeon or a foot surgeon if you needed brain surgery! This is the same concept for chiropractic.

If you have a specific problem in your low back that causes sharp shooting pain to travel down your leg whenever you twist or bend over, it would be wise to find a chiropractor who specializes in herniated discs in the low back. An office with decompression or flexion-distraction would be your best option.

If you are looking for a chiropractor to help you after a car accident, it would be smart to find an office that can help you with your personal injury claim to ensure that your insurance is covering the bill. This office will likely focus on getting you out of pain with different e-stim methods and massage. They also might send you for imaging if it's required for your insurance claim.

If you suffer from chronic headaches or migraines, it would be in your best interest to find an upper cervical chiropractor who specializes in the top of the neck. This is where most headaches and migraines stem from, and an upper cervical or atlas specialist will provide you with gentle and specific care to alleviate your headaches and migraines. This is not something that all chiropractors can do.

So, when you are searching for a chiropractor, I recommend using more specific key words to find exactly what you need. For example, "best Arvada chiropractor for neck pain" "migraine relief chiropractic in Westminster" or "Denver pediatric chiropractor for ear infections" might be better search terms than a generalized search like "chiropractor near me".

2. Read the chiropractor's Google reviews and website

I don't think there has ever been a time that I bought something or went to a restaurant without reading the reviews first. Okay, maybe a few times, but rarely! I almost ALWAYS read reviews on a website or on a product before buying it for myself! Google Maps makes it very easy to do this. All the reviews pop up right under the business information, so once you look at the location and photos, you can read the reviews.

Once you search for a chiropractor, whether you are searching for "chiropractor near me" or something more specialized like "headache relief by a chiropractor in Westminster", click on the first few options. These are the highest rated options based on traffic and reviews, so they are often the most reputable. Then, I would recommend that you take the time to read the reviews left by other patients. They are honest thoughts and feedback left by past or present patients, and they often include what their specific situation was and if it helped.

For example, if you Google search Performance Chiropractic, you will see that we have over 35 five-star reviews. Most of these reviews rave about how Dr. Nor and Dr. Katie are gentle, great listeners, and how they have helped so many people find relief from headaches, migraines, vertigo, neck pain, back pain, concussions, and sports injuries. If these are some of the things you are looking for help with, then our office would be a good fit for you. If the reviews are commenting on things that you do not relate to, or if they are negative reviews, then the office might not be your best choice. Keep searching! I promise the perfect one for you is out there.

3. Only work with someone you can trust and connect with

Choosing a chiropractor is a very personal decision. The most important thing when hiring a chiropractor, after finding a specialist with good reviews, is to find someone that you trust and connect with! I cannot emphasize this enough! Your future chiropractor is someone that you will be working very closely with. You will be telling them personal things about your history, sometimes traumatic or difficult things. They will also be touching you and working closely with your bones and joints, so it's important that you are comfortable with them.

If your chiropractor is someone that you trust, you can discuss all sorts of things with them. You can ask them for recommendations about your health and lifestyle, and if your chiropractor is someone that you relate with and that you share similar values with, you will be able to set new health goals together. It would be very difficult to have a health provider that disagrees with your health mindset or who doesn't see your true healing potential. If your chiropractor is on the same page as you, you can build a great relationship and truly catapult your health to new levels.

Remember, in our office, you will be spending about 15 minutes once or twice a week with your chiropractor. You don't want to dread those 15 minutes! Your appointments with your chiropractor should be relaxing and healing. It should be a safe space where you are comfortable talking about your weekend, your family, your kids, and your hobbies. Our office is women-owned, women-operated, and LGBTQ friendly, and we love empowering our patients to live their most authentic lives! It is very important that you trust and connect with your chiropractor.
